Archaeology for All!
One of the key activities of FoS is the provision of archaeological talks and workshops for schools, special interest groups and the public. This summer (2011) we provided archaeology workshops for local primary and secondary schools that were also combined with a special site visits to the dig during July.
This year we also had a special excavation participation week just for young people of secondary school age.
We offer archaeological experience for young pepole during their A'levels (during the summer) and visits to the University College archaeology lab. Young people are encouraged to get involved with the FOS group.
We also offer volunteer oportunities to home schooled children who are particularly interested in archaeology.
If you are a teacher or group orgainser and would like to find out more about these activities please contact us.
FoS and Bishop Grosseteste University College have also been supporting an archaeology club for children at Nettleham Junior School.
Material from the excavations at Sudbrooke have been used for a student placement project on Roman mosaics in Lincolnshire.
FoS members have also been helping Navenby Archaeology Group with their finds recording and quantification in the lab at the college.
